Is there a way to make the display email address a variable tied to the person who created the item? I am using 2007.

Basically, I have a survey for retaining overtime approved requests. The business request is to be able to store the data in the questions and who created the survey in another list so it cannot be edited. In order to do this, I created two additional lists, moveList (user has write access) and historyList (user does not have access). In the workflow, I create an item in the moveList where the createdBy for the survey entry is stored as a field in the list. When the item is created, I store the new item's ID in a workflow variable, createdItemID. However, when I use the Move extended and reference this ID it fails and gives me the following error:

System.ArgumentException: Value does not fall within the expected range.
 at Microsoft.SharePoint.SPListItemCollection.GetItemById(Int32 id)
 at DP.Sharepoint.Workflow.CopyListItemExtended.<>c__DisplayClass2.<Execute>b__0()
 at Microsoft.SharePoi...

I figured maybe there was an issue with the data types not matching, so I created a seperate workflow variable, moveID, which is an integer and set it equal to createdItemID. This did not fix the error. So then I tested the Move extended by setting the moveID variable equal to a known ID(5) in the list. This did work, so I'm a little lost to why this is failing?

Does anyone have any insight to why this may be failing? I'm thinking it may have something to do with the two procedures being called by the server are being executed on two different threads. I'll keep testing this, and if I find a solution I will post.

New Post: Revoke all permissions from list item

Is there a way to remove all permissions (SharePoint Groups) from a list item that are inherited from the parent list? By default when a new list item is created it will inherit the permissions from the list. I need to remove all the inherreted

To everyone that is looking for a 2010 version:

I took the time to port this work over to a 2010 solution. Its turnkey, all you need to do in the project is specify the url of your sharepoint server and you are good to go (or just deploy the already compiled wsp if you have no desire to make any
changes). I have also added the capability to specify a BCC address that the original email activity has to all of the custom email activities in this project. I have contacted the owner of this project and once i hear back i will figure out how
to share the 2010 version of the project with everyone.

Thanks,

Good day.

I have a question about permission activities.

I tried to implement something similar(after item is changed or added assign specific permissions on item) but i encountered problem:

i have custom console application which updates some data in lists and after calling item.Update()(or any other version of Update method, for example SystemUpdate()) it triggers workflow(in first implementation it was asynchronous receiver).

But this workflow(asynchronous receiver) is hosting in thread of console application and console application does not know anything about thread of workflow.

And when console application closes it shuts down all unfinished workflows(asynchronous receivers), so permissions are not granted.

How i can resolve this problem? That's why you are using service to grant permissions?

Best regards,

Chernobrivec.
