What should be the URL to retrieve from

I was trying to attach a document from a form library but I couldn't. I tried many URLs to retrieve from but it did not work.

Here is my scenario:

When the user creates or uploads a form to my form library, I want to send an email to a specific person with that from attached to the email. I tried:

http://servername/sitename/formlibraryname/
http://servername/sitename/formlibraryname/forms/
http://servername/sitename/formlibraryname/formname.xml (assuming that I can force a specific form name)

The email that I receive contains an xml file but its content is basically html (the form library's default.aspx page).

Did I write the URL correctly? I don't quiet figure out what I am missing here!
