Does Copy List Item Extended Activity work across servers - pls HELP

Jan 20, 2010 at 3:38 AM

I have a siteA at

http://myserver:8080/sites/pop/lists/mylistname

and Site B at

http://myserverA:8080/sites/pop/lists/mylistname

when i try and use the Copy List Item Extended Activity to copy the list items across i keep getting error:

System.IO.FileNotFoundException: The Web application at http://myserverA/sites/pop/lists/mylistname could not be found. Verify that you have typed the URL correctly. If the URL should be serving existing content, the system administrator may need to add a new request URL mapping to the intended application.

My AAM looks like this:

Internal URL                  Zone        Plublic URL for Zone

http://myserverA:8080    Default     http://myserverA:8080

http://myserverA.domainname:8080  Default  http://myserverA.domainname:8080

http://myserverA.domainname:2020 Default     http://myserverA.domainname:2020  -- this is been extended for FBA

Any ideas what i need to do.
Thanks

I am able to use this action with no issues, both to copy to another list within the same site and to copy to a list in another site.  I do get a ‘List does not exist’ error message if I include /AllItems.aspx at the end of my list address – once I stripped that off, the list was found.

Hi shelly7,
            Thanks for the reply.

When you say copy a list in another site do you mean

from

Site A

http://myserver:8080/sites/pop/lists/mylistname

to Site B at

http://myserverA:8080/sites/pop/lists/mylistname

You will notice the sites sits on different servers.
Thanks in advance

Hi Naijacoder –

In my case, both sites are within the same site collection – thus the same server.  I do not think this action will work when copying across site collections.
